Description of Positions:

 

PRESIDENT

He/she is an upper-year student that is the chief executive officer of the club. He/she presides at all club meetings, issues the call for regular meetings and appoints the standing and special committees of the club. The President is also in charge of applying for clubs funding through the University of Toronto and must be familiar with the university’s protocols for club membership and funding. The President is also in charge of ensuring that the constitution and by-laws are not violated and of initiating amendments to the constitution.

 

VP INTERNAL

If the president is unable to perform the duties of his/her office for any reason, the VP Internal is the next in rank shall occupy his/her position and perform his/her duties with the same authority as the president. On a day-to-day basis the VP Internal is in charge of liaising with other student clubs on campus to collaborate on events and initiates outreach events on campus. VP internal also liases with the VP Student Life Officer in order to improve the student experience of TMA members on campus. He/she is also in charge of ensuring implementation of proper member recruitment and retention procedures.

 

VP EXTERNAL

The VP External oversees external conferences and coordinates events with student organizations at the university. The VP-external is also in charge of initiating ties with the external community including but not limited to youth committees, alumni associations of the university and members of the community at large. He/she is also in charge of external outreach events and collaborations with other TMAs.

 

VP FINANCE

He/she is in control of the club’s money, its collection, and disbursement. The treasurer is responsible for managing the TMA bank account and keeping accurate books that will enable him/her to give a full financial report whenever requested. It is preferable if the VP finance has an education background in business/finance or experience as a student-club treasurer. The VP Finance is also in charge of liaising with VP External to recruit sponsors.

 

SECRETARY

He/she is under the supervision and direction of the president. The secretary submits regular monthly membership reports, service activity reports and other reports specified by the association. He/ she has custody of and maintains general records of the club, including minutes.

VP COMMUNICATIONS

VP communications is in charge of advertising, and running the TMA's social media outlets. This includes running the TMA facebook, twitter, drafting the newsletter and maintaining the website.

 

VP STUDENT LIFE

The goal of the VP Student Life Officer is to improve the student experience of TMA members on campus. VP student life works closely with VP Internal in order to ensure services are available for all of our members and they organize member events throughout the year including coordinating sisters events and borthers events.

 

VP COMMUNITY OUTREACH

VP Outreach's role is to engage TMA members in outreach initiatives. VP Outreach will work with VP external to organize philanthropic initiatives for TMA members as well as organizing Islamic outreach initiatives.
